The topic of PLN is again the focus of dicussion in this week’s material. From Couros’ chapter on Developing Personal Learning Networks for Open and Social Learning, the strategies he highlighted on developing a strong PLN and establishing continous learning is important for university educationa and life-long learning.
Relating this to my university study at the Health Information Science program in UVic, I can understand how some courses are trying to build this learning network by connecting us to various events (guest talks), networking platforms or organizations in the field. One solid example is as students within the program, we became members of the Digital Health Canada, which is not-for-profit professional association that connects professionals in the digital health industry and holds events, webinars, and learning opportunities.
